One more Taiwan’s and Indonesia’s similar food invention

This is steamed spring rolls in Taiwan that often called “Popiah” and in Indonesia we called it “Lumpia”

Taiwanese people have the habit of eating this Popiah during the Chinese Tomb Sweeping Day Festival.

In Southern Taiwanese style, the ingredients are generally boiled or blanched in plain water.
Sometimes castor or super fine sugar is added along with the peanut powder before all the ingredients are wrapped.

We found this gem while strolling around in the city, there was too much people crowding this stall!! This one is the original flavour spring roll / popiah.
Inside it, there are various kinds of stuffing inside like cabbage, leeks, bean sprouts, dried bean curd, bamboo strips, celery, egg crisp, and topped with peanut powder also sugar powder.

There is something unique and special compared to the others, because the store also put sausage and small shredded of yam into the stuffing.

The sweet taste of yam combine with all crunchy veggies and mix well with savoury meat and bacon make every bite of this dish so unforgettable. There is also other choices of flavour. Pick your own selection and you are ready-to-eat and brighten your day.
